project aims to continue the research carried out under the CASA Group: Social studies on housing and city, based in IESP / UERJ since 2015. This project aims to examine the relationship between the production of the city, the daily reproduction of inequalities and conflicts in around the provision of urban infrastructure in the metropolitan regions of Rio de Janeiro and Mexico city. This project has as main objective the consolidation and deepening of an agenda of ethnographic research around the production of housing and infrastructure provision in Rio de Janeiro and Mexico City. The intention is to build an analytical perspective to explore the multiple dimensions of housing from various scales of analysis - from construction and production space of the house, of domesticity structures and belonging feelings to the public policy of housing and the provision of urban infrastructure - taking as empirical research focus metropolitan regions of Rio de Janeiro and Mexico City. Therefore, join forces researchers with extensive experience in urban research in both cities (the Colegio de Mexico, UNAM, the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Chicago, USA, and the Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity of Columbia University, USA) and a collaborative track record of over a decade for joint research that will result in a book or in the organization of a dossier in the specialized magazine to be published in English and / or Spanish.
